The Sanitation Department utilizes mechanical street sweepers year-round to remove debris and litter from streets.
How you can help:
- Pick up litter and trash in and around your property, rather than sweeping or blowing these items into the street.
- Don’t throw trash or other items out of your vehicle when driving.
- As you walk along the sidewalks, utilize street trash cans to dispose of waste items. These cans are provided for the convenience of pedestrians and those attending downtown events.
Please contact the Sanitation department for more information.
A “vector” is an organism that transmits disease or parasites. This includes insects like mosquitoes and flies. For the health and safety of everyone in the community, insect and mosquito control services are provided by the Sanitation Department.
How you can help:
- Mosquitoes need quiet, standing water to breed. To control their breeding, eliminate any sources of standing water (bottles, jars, unused buckets, tires, etc.) on your property. Items like wheelbarrows, tubs, pools, and so forth should be properly stored or covered.
- To minimize fly breeding, keep garbage in tightly covered containers and properly dispose of it weekly and remove excessive animal waste from your property.
Please contact the Sanitation department for more information.
