Cullman, Ala. — Mayor Woody Jacobs has officially proclaimed Tuesday, November 18, 2025, as Retired Teachers’ Day in the City of Cullman, in accordance with Alabama’s Senate Joint Resolution 82 (Act No. 90-183), which established the Tuesday of American Education Week each year as a day of recognition for retired teachers across the state.

American Education Week will be observed November 17–21, 2025, celebrating the importance of public education and honoring the professionals whose work has helped shape generations of Alabamians. Retired Teachers’ Day serves as a special opportunity to recognize those who dedicated their lives to teaching and continue to contribute to their communities long after leaving the classroom.

“Retired teachers played a major role in shaping our students, our workforce, and the community we all enjoy today,” said Mayor Woody Jacobs. “Their influence reaches far beyond the classroom, and Cullman is a better place because of the years they devoted to educating and supporting our children.”

The Alabama Education Retirees Association, Inc. (AERA) represents and advocates for retired public education employees across the state, supporting their well-being and advancing issues that impact retirees. Community members are encouraged to learn more about AERA by visiting www.aerainc.org
