On Wednesday, January 22, 2025, Mayor Woody Jacobs officially proclaimed the week of January 26 through February 3, 2025, “Lutheran Schools Week” in Cullman. Administrators, teachers, and students of St. Paul’s Lutheran School were on hand to receive the proclamation from Mayor Jacobs.

“We are very appreciative of St. Paul’s Lutheran School and all they do to educate our young people,” said Mayor Jacobs. “I am proud to proclaim ‘Lutheran Schools Week’ to celebrate their impact on our community.”

St. Paul’s Lutheran School has operated in Cullman since 1954 with the twofold goal of cultivating the mind while nourishing the soul. The liberal arts curriculum cultivates the mind and character of its students by focusing on what is good, true, and beautiful while the soul is nourished through the Holy Scriptures, the Lutheran confessions, and the liturgy and hymnody of the Church. St. Paul’s Lutheran School also extends the ministry of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church by proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ while providing an academically excellent education.

“My son went to St. Paul’s Lutheran School, so it holds a special place in my heart,” said Mayor Jacobs. “I know that they provide a quality education for their students and play a vital role in making Cullman a wonderful place to live, worship, and raise a family.”

Lutheran Schools Week is an annual observance providing Lutheran preschools, elementary schools, and high schools with a public opportunity to celebrate their efforts to provide excellent academic preparation for the children they serve and to share Jesus’ love with children and their families. The national theme for this year’s observance is “Endure (Hebrews 12:1-3).” Through this theme, scripture, and associated activities and events, students will learn to: (1) Identify and overcome hindrances to their faith in Christ; (2) maintain Jesus as their focal point all of their lives; (3) reflect on Christ’s suffering and sacrifice for their salvation; (4) celebrate the joy and hope they have in Jesus Christ; and, (5) persevere in the Christian faith.

During Lutheran Schools Week, Mayor Jacobs urges citizens to recognize and celebrate St. Paul’s Lutheran School’s history, success, and continuing impact on the lives of so many in our community.
