The Street Department is responsible for the construction, maintenance, repair, and drainage of all city streets and sidewalks. The department also performs the following functions:

Fabricates, installs, and maintains street signs and signage for municipal facilities.

Oversees and implements drainage infrastructure projects within the City of Cullman.

Executes concrete work and related construction projects throughout the city.

Applies pavement markings and striping on city streets.

Transports and operates heavy equipment for municipal projects.

Constructs and repairs streets, sidewalks, and associated street signage.
Damaged streets and sidewalks, missing or damaged street signs, and inadequate stormwater drainage can create unsafe conditions. Citizens and visitors are encouraged to report such issues promptly to ensure public safety and maintain the integrity of the city’s infrastructure.

PLEASE NOTE that state-controlled highways within the Cullman city limits are maintained and repaired by the Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT). These include U.S. Highway 31, U.S. Highway 278, Alabama Highway 69/Cherokee Avenue, and Alabama Highway 157.
