CULLMAN, Ala. – The Cullman County Republican Party will host its annual dinner and silent auction Thursday, Jan. 23 at 6 p.m. Tickets for the event, which will be held at Loft 212 in downtown Cullman, are $50 each or $400 for a table. Ticket sales end this Friday, Jan. 17. Tickets can be purchased from Cullman County Republican Women Chairwoman Jacqueline Schendel by calling 256-708-3549. The dinner will be catered by Designs by Grace, and guests will hear from area leaders as well as U.S. Senate candidates.
The dinner and auction raise money for the Cullman County Republican Party’s general fund, according to Chairman Steve Cummings. It’s also a time for the candidates to speak to their constituents.
“The event is just an open mic for the candidates, not a debate, with no questions from a moderator,” said Cummings. “Due to time restraints and logistics, we ask no questions from the audience.”
The group expects at least three candidates to attend, and hopes for more.
“U.S. Senate candidates Bradley Byrne, Stanley Adair and Arnold Mooney have confirmed,” said Cummings. “Tommy Tuberville had a schedule conflict and won’t be able to make it, but he’s sending a special video message that we’ll play at the event. (We’re) still waiting to get solid confirmation from both (former) Senator Jeff Sessions and (former) Judge Roy Moore.”
Awards will also be given out at the event.
“We will also be awarding our yearly awards for Outstanding Elected Official, Outstanding man/woman/youth Volunteers and our Republican Legacy Award winner,” said Cummings. “I’ll be the emcee, along with Jacqueline Schendel.”
Auction items will include “Make America Great Again” hats autographed by President Donald Trump and a Trump-inspired acoustic guitar.
